This is something you may or may not care about. I am putting this into the Asus Eee PC Buying Guide category.
Some people consider netbooks to be a certain size. A majority of websites limit netbooks to the 10-inch size. The 12-inch Asus Eee PC models on those sites are sometimes referred to as notebooks or laptops. Adding to the confusion is the other 11-inch and 12-inch laptops that Asus has in their lineup.
So what seperates the Eee PC netbook from the Asus laptop/notebook? Simply said by an Asus representative, it’s a matter of processor. The Eee PC netbooks come with the low cost processors. Period. So that’s why Asus considers their 12-inch Eee PC model a netbook and not a netbook. The price of the Atom processor and AMD equivalent allows for a cheaper price. It makes sense. The more powerful processors are more expensive and full powered and are not found in any of the Eee PC models.
We hope this gives you a bit on insight into how Asus categorizes their Eee PC models vs Asus laptop/notebooks.
