Confused about these Asus netbooks? It’s understandable. On first glance you may think these are all the same and for the most part they are. Ah, but there are some differences and we’re here to tell you about those differences.

Design wise, these are essentially the same animal. They are based on the seashell design but have different lid textures and color selections.

First, let’s start with the older models. Care to guess? It’s the 1001PXD and 1001PX. Those come with the older Intel Atom single core processors. The 1001PX comes with a N450 Atom processor and the 1001PXD comes with the N455 processor. The 1015PX and 1011PX both come with the updated N570 dual core Atom processor.

So understand that the 1001PX and 1001PXD are the older models. With that said, the keyboard is different on the 1001 models. These have the older design which is not chiclet. It’s the keyboard that does not have the spaces between the keys. It’s a good keyboard, but it’s the older style. I’ve used it, and it’s a good keyboard. The Asus Eee PC 1015PX and 1011PX have the updated chiclet style keyboard.

The Asus Eee PC 1001PX, 1001PXD and 1011PX do not come with Bluetooth. The Asus 1015PX is a more premium model and does come with Bluetooth.

The Asus 1015PX and Asus 1011PX also have the larger and newly designed trackpad.

Cosmetics or build quality, the 1015PX is the best choice. The lid has a more quality looking and feel to it, but is that worth paying more for?

If you are picky about colors, you will have the most color selection with the 1015PX. The 1011PX only comes in black or white. The Asus Eee PC 1015PX has an assortment of colors in matte finish (black, blue, red or white) and also you can get a glossy finish (black, red, or white).

As is typical Asus netbook selection, all of the above Eee PC models come with either a 3 cell or 6 cell battery. Depending on where you live you may have a choice. If the price is cheap be sure to check because it’s most likely a 3 cell battery. If you aren’t afraid of spending that little bit extra, it’s better in my opinion to get the 6 cell version.

This is something you may or may not care about. I am putting this into the Asus Eee PC Buying Guide category.

Some people consider netbooks to be a certain size. A majority of websites limit netbooks to the 10-inch size. The 12-inch Asus Eee PC models on those sites are sometimes referred to as notebooks or laptops. Adding to the confusion is the other 11-inch and 12-inch laptops that Asus has in their lineup.

So what seperates the Eee PC netbook from the Asus laptop/notebook? Simply said by an Asus representative, it’s a matter of processor. The Eee PC netbooks come with the low cost processors. Period. So that’s why Asus considers their 12-inch Eee PC model a netbook and not a netbook. The price of the Atom processor and AMD equivalent allows for a cheaper price. It makes sense. The more powerful processors are more expensive and full powered and are not found in any of the Eee PC models.

We hope this gives you a bit on insight into how Asus categorizes their Eee PC models vs Asus laptop/notebooks.

CES 2012 has been a really great resource for the upcoming 1025C models. There seems to be some sketchy and somewhat contradictory details about the specs, but we think it’s a real winner. Check out this great hands-on video which gives you a great look at the Eee PC Flare design. It’s a sharp looking netbook! It’s going to be a big big seller for Asus. In the hands-on video, the person mentions a couple details referring to the 1025C, but from what I’ve read and seen, some of those specs belong to the 1025CE. We’re not even 100% sure about the labeling of the two different models at this point. Hopefully in the next week or two the finalized details, specs and model numbers for the 1025 Eee PC will be more clear.

In 2010 and 2011 the Asus Eee PC seashell design was born. Remember how sleek and thin that design style was? Not all the seashell models were equal thinness, but they shared the seashell design style. Now that it’s 2012, Asus has refreshed its design. That’s what we’re talking about with Eee PC Flare. It’s not a specific model, but rather a new design style that will be shared by the new Eee PC netbooks. We could talk about it, but the photos will do a better job! Essentially the “flare” is the raised palm rest area. Take a look for yourself and see what you think. Sure it’s not a Zenbook, but for the price, the Flare design is a nice upgrade and refresh to the Eee PC netbook lineup.

We’re still waiting for a full crop of Asus Eee PC 1025C and 1025CE pink netbook pictures. However we can confirm that in February you will be able to get you hands on a pink netbook. There is a big demand for pink netbooks even though manufacturers have all but stopped producing pink colors. We were hopeful that the Asus 1015PW pink Sirocco edition would hit the market, but apparently Asus decided the 1015PW was not going for widespread release. Scratch the pink 1015PW Sirocco from your mind because the pink 1025C and pink 1025CE is a much more impressive offering. We are making bold predictions about the 1025 series of Eee PC because it’s the most impressive spec upgrade in quite a long time. You can get a USB 3.0 port, a sleep and charge USB port and the N2800 Atom processor in the pink Eee PC 1025CE. The lower end model, the 1025C doesn’t have the USB 3.0 port, the sleep and charge USB port and comes with the N2600 Atom processor. A full photo gallery is coming in a day or two.

In my mind, the Eee PC 1025 series will be the netbook to beat in 2012. With that in mind, this article will serve as a buying guide. I will update this guide/comparison as new details are released. The release date and pricing is unknown at this time. The details will be more accurate obviously as we near the release date.

Asus Eee PC 1025C vs. Asus Eee PC 1025CE

Price: 1025CE more expensive than the 1025C. $299 vs $319.

Processor: Update – The 1025C comes with the N600 Atom which is 1.6 GHz vs the 1025CE which comes with the N2800 Atom 1.86GHz processor.

We don’t yet know if the Intel Atom N2600 comes in the 1025C and the Intel Atom N2800 comes in the 1025CE. We imagine if the 1025CE is the more premium priced model, that it will have the faster N2800 processor. We hope to update this information in the coming week.

Colors: 1025C comes in 8 colors (black, blue, red, gray, white gloss, white matte, pink, brown) vs 1025CE comes in 3 colors (pink, blue, purple)

Ports: 1025CE has USB 3.0 port vs 1025C has no USB 3.0 port

Battery Life: 1025C will get slightly better battery life at about 10 hours and 12 minutes vs 1025CE which will get around 9 hours and 38 minutes.

Misc: 1025CE has a sleep and charge USB port which allows the Eee PC to power a connected device like mobile phone even when the Eee PC is powered down. The 1025C does not come with the USB Charger+ feature.

Check back as we update this vs. comparison between the Asus Eee PC 1025C and Asus Eee PC 1025CE.

Who likes the colors in these Eee PC 1025 models? I do! If you take a closer look at these 1025 and 1025CE Eee PC photos you will be witness to the 2012 version models. It has been shown today, as we lead up to CES 2012, that the Asus Eee PC Flare is a new design which moves away from the Asus Eee PC Seashell design. We imagine that this new design names Flare comes out of the new ports that are incorporated in the new 1025 Eee PC models. If you look closely you can see the touchpad or palm rest area is elevated now. It’s hard to say for sure how thick the Eee PC Flare compares to the Eee PC Seashell design, but we’re sure it’s very similar. We just don’t see Asus going to a thicker and or heavier design for their netbooks. Oh don’t be fearful of the colors if that’s not your cup of tea. There will be the traditional white and black and possibly pink to choose from. We are getting very excited for the 1025, 1025C, and 1025CE details which we know are coming in just a matter of days!

Asus were the real netbook manufacturer. Sure there was a design concept out there for todays netbook, but the Asus Eee PC is what defined the category. With the onslaught of tablets and ultrabooks (looks as thin and light as a netbook but has full power processors and starts at around 11 inches) the netbook category has taken on a bit of water.

We talk about the upcoming Eee PC 1025 because it’s going to have the latest Atom processor which offers HDMI out and much improved video improvments. The only issue is that Intel delayed the release of the new processor citing issues with drivers.

With that said, we’re getting very close. The reviews and previews of the Asus Eee PC 1025 are going to start pouring in as we get into January 2012. The latest Eee PC, the X101 hasn’t been widely applauded as the keyboard got squashed down (not a good thing) and the MeeGo operating system didn’t help it gain big sales. Sure it’s $199 but it’s not a great design as many reviews have stated.

So does the Asus Eee PC 1025 and 1025CE offer the greatest hope to the Eee PC franchise and to the concept of netbooks? Let’s face it. It’s been a long while since we can say the Eee PC models of the 10.1-inch size have seen any noticable improvment. That’s Intel’s Atom processor and lack of progress more than anything. We saw the 1015PN which did incorporate the Nvidia ION, which was perhaps the biggest step forward in that size of netbook.

So long as the 1025 has the same chiclet keyboard that the Asus Eee PC models have excelled at, there shouldn’t be a lot to worry about. If they keep the keyboard the same, slim it down, offer HDMI in addition to the latest Atom processor, then the Eee PC 1025 should be the king of 2012. If Asus and the 1025 show strong sales, it will further stir up the netbook category. None of the other manufacturers are going to allow Asus to run away with the entire 10.1-inch category unto themselves.

So we remain confident in 2012 for the growth of the Eee PC lineup. It’s largly thanks to the cheap price of course. When there is the $500 11.6-inch ultrabook competing against the $300 10.1-inch Eee PC 1025, we are pretty sure where the consumers will go. The tablets lately have proven one thing. Cheap remains the primary concern of consumers. People have proven that if your name isn’t Apple, then you must reduce the sticker price to stand a chance. For that reason, expect Asus to sell a lot of Eee PC 1025 models in 2012. We will have the best of the reviews, previews, hands-on videos with the Asus Eee PC 1025 and 1025CE.
